Lille
Discover the capital of Flanders
Merchant city since its origins, Lille is called “La Capitale des Flandres” (the capital city of the Flanders region) and is well-known for its architectural treasures. Proud of its festive and culinary traditions, Lille remains a human-sized city and reflects the generosity and the warmth of its locals. Did you know ? The well-known “Braderie de Lille” took place until recently on the Monday following the first Sunday of September. It used to be a bank holiday for locals. It stems from an old tradition which allowed household workers to sell to their benefit used clothes and items belonging to their masters on this occasion.
